2024 SPRING HAIR TRENDS
Recently, with the chill in the air, we've taken the opportunity to compile a Spring trend report, helping you get a head start on planning your new look for the warmer months ahead.
We caught up with Paloma Roan's Creative Director, Mikki Auld, to get her insights on what's expected to trend for Spring 2024.
WHEN IT COMES TO HAIR COLOUR? WHAT IS LIKELY TO BE THE MOST REQUESTED TONE FOR SPRING 2024?
I’m definitely noticing a lot of guests leaning into sunny, golden and almost strawberry kissed tones - I love it! It’s probably my favourite kind of colour because there’s a shade to suit everyone and will always warm up complexions and make your highlights POP - huge fan over here!
WHAT SHOULD GUESTS ASK FOR TO ACHIEVE THE LOOK?
You know, hairdressing has changed SO much and especially at Paloma, we are a salon that create hair colour and cuts that are tailored to the individual. It honestly starts with your starting base. If you’re overly blonde - like Bronte, who is featured here - you will need a full head of shadow lights to achieve this kind of result. I like to call this technique a “faux balayage” but it actually involves a lot of advanced colour work from foilage to tip outs, shadowing etc - it’s not a one size fits all kind of deal. I recommend either booking a consultation ahead of time, emailing through pictures of your current hair and dream hair or, booking a full head, gloss, treatment and finishing service to ensure your stylist has more than enough time with you.
Sunny golds and rich velvety blondes are HUGE right now
Coppers are here to stay - as in healthy, voluminous and expensive looking hair
AND LET’S CHAT HAIR CUTS? WHAT ARE WE GOING TO BE WEARING THIS SPRING?
We are adoring French girl bobs, fem mod-cuts, bouncy layers, chic Italian bobs & big blow outs - at Paloma Roan we are specialists in razor cutting. It’s how we carve petals that hug the cheekbones - bohemian hair cuts are definitely our vibe. Anything that’s got a nostalgic, effortless feel while remaining super fashion focused and modern.
Change up your look with bouncy layers and sweeping fringes - we love carving hair petals that hug the cheekbones. They will make your features pop - how chic!
WHAT ABOUT SHAGS AND WOLF CUTS?
Oh yes, these aren’t going anywhere! At Paloma I’d say the biggest thing we’ve noticed is that people are opting for a more feathered, feminine result - so less mullet, more 70’s shag vibes. But in saying that, I will always love this retro style and there’s nothing better than completely transforming your look with a shag, wolf cut or mullet style. Why not try something new you know? Mix it up and have some fun with your look - trend reports are to be seen as a guide but ultimately, wear whatever the heck you feel like!
WHAT’S ONE TREND THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE LAST FOR-EVERRRR?
Embracing your natural texture and enjoying what you’ve been born with - as I get older and those first greys have begun blooming, I’ve noticed my texture change. I’m loving it! If you’ve been blessed with movement whether tight curls or salty waves - lean into it. I highly recommend adopting a less-is-more haircare routine. It really doesn’t have to be complicated. For lived in, effortless locks that look fab ALL year round I highly recommend a great sea salt spray, leave in treatment, light serum and a rich home hair treatment. Letting your natural texture shine through is where it’s at, plus your locks will thank you for using heat tools on her less.
We are noticing that a lot of guests are leaning into a strawberry kissed glaze - which looks as good as it sounds - trust us!
OKAY, FAB. WHAT OTHER KIND OF COLOURS ARE ON THE MUST HAVE LIST FOR SPRING?
Lived in, natural looking colour is NOT going anywhere - expensive looking locks is here to stay but keep in mind - although these colours grow out softly, you will want to maintain with a 6 weekly gloss for best results. Healthy hair is absolutely in focus at the moment - so invest in your haircare routine and book regular trims and treatments.
Apart from this, I’m definitely seeing a lot of bright platinums and golden coppers
Lived in colour, balayage and minimalist chic balayage is always going to hit the trend report - but be sure to maintain with frequent glosses and treatments
Featured fringes on a flicky French girl bob is all the rage right now - you heard it here first!
Healthy hair is trending MASSIVELY right now - so let that be a sign to invest in your home haircare routine. It’s the ultimate self-care pleasure
